Cardan shaft and rear axle (BMW 3 Series E21)
Cardan transmission
Check the condition of the protective covers every 15,000 km.
Rear axle
Check the oil level in the rear axle every 15,000 km.
Replace the oil in the rear axle every 30,000 km. Do this immediately after the trip, while the oil is warm. Pour fresh oil through the filler hole to the level of the lower edge of the hole.
