- 10 or 12 mm Allen key for filler and drain plugs.
Necessary consumables:
- Transmission oil according to BMW specification, viscosity SAE 75 W90.
- Two aluminum sealing washers, size A22x27.
Before changing the oil, the main gear must be warmed up; to do this, take a test drive for 15 minutes.
Raise and support the vehicle so that it is level.
Unscrew the filler plug with a hex key.

When a little oil comes out of the hole, it means that its level is normal and there are no leaks in the bridge. If the oil does not flow out, then use your finger to check whether its level reaches the lower edge of the hole.
Remove the drain plug and drain the oil into a container.
The drain plug is magnetized to attract metal particles and chips from the final drive. Wipe the chips off the plug. Then tighten the drain plug to 50 Nm.
Fill the rear axle with oil using the filling device.
Oil specification: transmission oil with viscosity according to SAE 75W90. In this case, it is necessary to use oil certified by the manufacturer.
Note: Transmission oil is thick, so it should be poured in small portions.
Place a container underneath and collect excess oil.
Install the filler plug with a new sealing washer and tighten to 50 Nm.
