Replacing the radiator (BMW 3 Series E21)

Removal

Unscrew the expansion tank cap and drain the coolant.

On vehicles with automatic transmission, disconnect the oil cooling pipes from the radiator.

Disconnect the supply hose and bleed tube from the radiator.

Remove the radiator from the engine compartment by unscrewing the two upper mounting bolts.

Installation

Check the condition of the radiator rubber mounts and replace them if necessary.

Position the radiator so that the rubber pads are located between the radiator feet.

Attach the hoses to the radiator. On vehicles with automatic transmission, attach the oil cooling tubes to the radiator.

Pour the liquid into the expansion tank and remove air from the cooling system.
