2. Lock the crankshaft with tool 116480 in the position of the piston of the first cylinder at TDC at the end of the compression stroke.
Caution: Do not allow the engine crankshaft to turn in the opposite direction.

3. Remove the protective cap on the timing belt cover.
4. Lock the crankshaft using tool 115320 in the position of the piston of the 1st cylinder at TDC at the end of the compression stroke.
Caution: Do not allow the engine crankshaft to turn in the opposite direction.

5. Remove the chain tensioner (1).

6. Unscrew the screws (1).
7. Remove the sprocket from the installed shaft and release it from the chain.
8. Place the drive chain into the cylinder head.

9. Remove the intake camshaft.
Note: Removing the intake camshaft requires valve timing adjustment.
- 1) Unscrew the bearing cap fasteners (from E1 to E5) from the edges to the middle in several half-turn steps.
- 2) Remove the intake camshaft by moving it upwards.

10. Lubricate all areas (1) of the support with engine oil.

11. Check the position of the roller levers of the pushers.

Note: The intake camshaft (1) marked (E) is stowed.

Note: When installing the intake camshaft (E), the markings on both camshafts (A and E) must match (see picture).

12. Install the intake camshaft
13. Tighten the fastening of the bearing caps E1 to E5 on the camshaft holder in several half-turn steps from the middle to the edges.
Tightening torque: 10 Nm.

14. Place the camshaft sprocket with the drive chain on the intake camshaft so that the bolts (1) are located in the center of the longitudinal holes.
15. Insert screws (1).
16. Tighten the bolts (1) to 10 Nm.
17. Loosen the bolts (1) again by 90°.

18. Insert the chain tensioner (1).
Tightening torque: 70 Nm.

19. Install tool 118760 on the exhaust camshaft.
Note: Tool 118760 must fit flush against the cylinder head.

20. The markings on both camshafts (A and E) must match (see picture).

21. Tighten the camshaft mounting bolts (1).
Tightening torque: 15 Nm.

22. Turn the engine using tool 116480 two turns in the direction of rotation until the piston of the 1st cylinder is at the TDC end of the compression stroke.
23. Check the camshaft adjustment.
Caution: Do not allow the engine to turn in the opposite direction.
24. Assemble the engine.
