Engine fault diagnostics (BMW 3 Series E30)

If the engine does not start, a systemic troubleshooting should be performed. There are two possible reasons for the failure to start gasoline engines: the air-fuel mixture should not enter the cylinders and there should be no spark between the spark plug electrodes. Therefore, the first thing to check is whether fuel is supplied at all. How to do this is described in the sections "Fuel system" and "Fuel injection system".
