The radio/cassette/CD unit, which is fitted as standard equipment by BMW, has a special code to prevent theft. When this unit is disconnected from the power source, the theft prevention system is activated.
Even if you restore power to the unit immediately after disconnection, it will not work until the appropriate code is entered. Therefore, if you do not know this code, do not disconnect the negative battery cable and do not remove the unit from the car.
The procedure for reprogramming the unit after disconnecting the supply voltage from it depends on the model. Detailed information on this can be obtained from the manual supplied with the unit or from BMW dealers
