The key as a means of ensuring security
The electronic anti-theft system increases the level of protection of your BMW against theft. It allows you to start the engine only with the keys to your car. At your request, the electronic circuits of individual keys can be blocked at the BMW service station (for example, in case of loss). The engine cannot be started with a locked key.
The key has an electronic circuit built in. The electronics in the car exchange signals through the ignition switch that are individual for each car and constantly changing with the electronic unit in the key. The ignition, fuel supply and starter systems are only activated if the key is recognized as "its own".
If the key is handled carelessly, the built-in electronic circuit may be damaged. In this case, starting the engine will be impossible.
