Coolant — antifreeze (BMW 5 Series E34)

The cooling system is filled with a mixture of water and frost and anti-corrosion agent when leaving the factory. This mixture prevents damage from freezing and corrosion and also increases the boiling point of the coolant. Therefore, the cooling system must be filled with a mixture of cooling concentrate throughout the year.

Caution: Use only antifreeze concentrates specified by BMW.

Since the anti-corrosion component in the coolant solution loses its effectiveness after some time, the coolant should be replaced every 2 years.

In our latitudes it is sufficient to provide frost resistance down to -30°C.
