Contact ignition system distributor (BMW 3 Series E21)

Every 15,000 km apply a thin layer of grease such as Bosch FT 1V 4 to the fibre pad (on the surface from the axis side) movable contact of the breaker. Remove the runner and put two drops of motor oil on the felt insert of the drive shaft. If more oil is used, misfires may occur.

Replace the breaker contact carbons every 15,000 km. The working surface of the breaker contacts must be completely clean. Adjust the gap between the breaker contacts, which should be within 0.35-0.40 mm.

Warning: On vehicles with contactless ignition systems, to avoid electric shock, do not touch live ignition components while the engine is running.
