External inspection of brake pads can be performed with brake drums or discs removed. The wear limit is reached if the thickness of the brake pad at its narrowest point is 1.5 mm.
When the wear limit is reached, replace the brake pads. Be sure to replace all pads on one axle at once.
Clean the brake drum and brake shield with brake cleaner.
Check the wheel brake cylinder dust boots for damage or cracking.
