Adjusting the parking brake system

Move the parking brake lever to the lowest position.

Remove the rear wheel and rotate the brake disc until the adjusting ratchet appears in the hole in the disc hub.

Using a screwdriver, turn the adjusting ratchet to press the parking brake shoes against the drum until the brake disc is applied.

Use a screwdriver to turn the adjusting ratchet back four to six notches so that the brake disc can rotate freely.

Adjust the tension of the parking brake cable branches as described above.

Replacing the parking brake pads

Removal

Remove the brake disc.

Using brake shoe spring pliers, remove the lower parking spring.

Turn the brake shoe pressure springs 90° with key 34 4 00 and disconnect the springs.

Remove the parking brake shoes by spreading their lower ends.

Installation

Check that the adjusting ratchet rotates freely and replace it if it is stuck.

Replace the parking brake shoes, replacing the tension and pressure springs if necessary.

Install the brake disc and adjust the parking brake system.
