Adjustment of a backlash between pads and a brake drum
Raise the rear of the car and place it on stands.
Lower the parking brake lever to its lowest position.
Rotating the wheel, press the pads against the brake drum until the wheel brakes, turning the head of the left adjusting eccentric counterclockwise with a special key BMW 34 2 000, and the head of the right adjusting eccentric clockwise.
Turn the adjusting eccentric heads back 1/8 of a turn until the wheel is just barely free to turn.
Parking brake adjustment
Adjust the parking brake if the lever moves more than six sector teeth.
Raise the protective cover of the parking brake lever.
Raise the lever up six sector teeth.
Loosen the locknuts on the threaded rods.
After tightening the adjusting nuts to a torque of 1.6-1.8 kgf·m, tighten each branch of the parking brake cable.
Tighten locknuts.
Move the lever to the lowest position and make sure that the wheels turn freely, without sticking.
In order to make sure that the cables are evenly tensioned, it is enough to slightly raise the parking brake lever and turn the wheels manually.
