Removal and installation the final muffler (BMW 3 Series E30)

Replacing the tail pipe requires a welding machine because the coupling must be welded in place. The tail pipe is bolted on only 318i/325e models with a catalytic converter, and almost all 1988 vehicles.

Removal

Raise the car.

Cover all bolted connections with rust solvent and wait until it takes effect.



Measure the "X" split on the new end muffler. Mark this measurement on the installed exhaust system.

At this point, cut the pipe with a pipe cutter.

Clean the cut area.



Remove the holder and the end muffler.



Push the coupling on. Install the muffler in the mounting position and weld the coupling at several points on both sides.

Remove the exhaust system and weld the coupling around the circumference.

Install the exhaust system.
