Removal and installation the oil pan (BMW 5 Series E12)

Removal

Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or lift.

Drain the engine oil completely.

Remove the anti-roll bar.

Loosen the mounting bolts and remove it by pushing it towards the front end of the engine.

Installation

The oil pan is installed in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:

• clean and degrease the mating surfaces;
• apply Atmosit type sealant to the mating surfaces of the timing cover and the crankshaft rear oil seal holder.
