Removal and installation the clutch slave cylinder (BMW 3 Series E36)

Removal

— Pump out the brake fluid from the expansion tank to the level of the filler hose.

Warning: Brake fluid is poisonous. Do not suck out the fluid with your mouth through the hose.

Raise the car.



Unscrew the slave cylinder from the gearbox.

Unscrew the hydraulic pipe.

Note: If the actuator cylinder is not replaced, the tube remains screwed on.

Installation

Lubricate the actuator cylinder push rod with Molykote Longthern 2.

Tighten the tube to the cylinder with a tightening torque of 15 Nm. Place the slave cylinder on the gearbox and tighten the bolts with a torque of 25 Nm. The air bleed bolt should be facing downwards.

Fill with brake fluid, remove air from the hydraulic clutch drive.
