Device for transporting long objects (BMW 5 Series E39)

The rear seat back is divided in a ⅓:⅔ ratio. To store long items, you can fold down each of these parts of the back.



To recline part of the backrest, grasp the recess and pull the backrest forward (arrow 1).

When reinstalling, make sure that the backrest is securely fixed in place. The red slider should go down (arrow 2).



You can lock each part of the backrest using the key from the single lock. This prevents access to the trunk from the passenger compartment, which is convenient when you hand over the key 3 from the door and ignition switch (refer to Section 2) to the parking attendant at the hotel.
