Car Maintenance — hood (BMW X3 E83)
Please note: Any work on the vehicle may only be performed by those with specialized knowledge. If you're not familiar with all the requirements for certain types of work, entrust your vehicle's repair and maintenance to a BMW service center. Unqualified service can result in damage to the vehicle or an accident.
Unlocking

Pull the lever located under the instrument panel closer to the left door.
Opening

Caution: Before opening the hood, make sure the wiper arms are pressed against the glass, otherwise you risk damaging them.
Press the locking lever and open the hood.
Closing

Slam the hood from a height of approximately 30 cm. You should clearly hear it lock into place.
Caution: To avoid injury, ensure there are no obstructions in the hood's path when closing. If while driving you suddenly discover that the hood is not closed properly, stop immediately and close the hood properly.
