Removal and installation the carburetor (BMW 3 Series E21)

Removal

Remove the air filter and drain some of the coolant.

Disconnect the fuel hoses and engine cooling system hoses from the carburetor. Disconnect the pads from the electromagnetic shut-off valves.

Disconnect the cable from the throttle actuator sector. Disconnect the white and black vacuum hoses from the carburetor in the area of the mixture quality adjustment screws.

Disconnect the green wire with black stripe from the starter housing and the green wire with purple stripe from the thermostatic servo.

Unscrew the four carburetor mounting nuts, disconnect the hose from the heating unit and remove the carburetor.

Installation

The carburetor is installed in the reverse order of removal. Please note the following:

• tighten the carburetor mounting nuts crosswise with a torque of 0.8-1.0 kgf·m;
• after installing the carburetor, top up the coolant to the normal level and remove air from the engine cooling system.
