Removal and installation the steering damper (BMW 3 Series E30)
The BMW-316/318 models are equipped with a steering damper. A steering damper defect is determined by a rough, thumping steering wheel on an uneven road.
Raise the front of the vehicle and place it on stands.
Unscrew the steering damper from the body and from the bracket on the steering gear. You can hold the piston rod with a wrench while doing this
Check the steering damper before installation.
Screw the steering damper with new self-locking nuts to the body and to the bracket on the steering gear.
