Removal and installation the steering tip (BMW 3 Series E30)

Removal

Loosen the wheel bolts.

Raise the front of the car and remove the wheel.



Loosen the nut securing the steering tip joint. Press out the steering tip joint using a suitable puller.



Release the tie rod end clamp while holding the tie rod with a 17 mm wrench.

Unscrew the steering tip.

Note: When unscrewing, note the number of turns.

Installation

Tighten the steering tip by the same number of turns.

Insert the steering rod into the steering linkage arm. Tighten the new self-locking nut to a tightening torque of 35 Nm.

Put the wheel on.

Lower the car.

Tighten the wheel bolts crosswise to 110 Nm.

Adjust the toe-in.

Tighten the steering tip clamp to a torque of 15 Nm.
