(Drawing W 4484) Loosen the 2 adjusting screws -arrows- for the handbrake cable.
Press the brake pedal several times, the gap is automatically set, and clicks of the gear of the adjusting mechanism are heard. The function of the shoe setting mechanism can be checked through the wheel bolt hole.
(Drawing W 4484) Adjust handbrake cable. To do this, tighten the handbrake lever by 4 teeth and screw the adjusting nuts -arrows- onto the cable until the left and right rear wheels can still be turned evenly by hand. Release the handbrake lever and check that the wheels turn freely. If necessary, repeat the adjustment.
(Drawing W 44151) Turn on the ignition. When the handbrake is released, the control lamp on the dashboard should go out. If this does not happen, adjust limit switch -3-.
