Replacing brake pipes/brake hoses (BMW 3 Series E36)

            0

Tubes are used as rigid connections in the brake system. Connection to the wheels is made by flexible brake hoses that can withstand pressure.

Raise the car.

Loosen the union nuts and remove the brake pipe.

Close the connection point of the tube towards the main brake cylinder with a plug, or first suck out the brake fluid from the expansion tank.

Lay the new pipe in the same place as the old one, if possible.

If it is necessary to replace the brake hose, the brake caliper must first be removed.

Tighten the brake hose to the brake pipe with a tightening torque of 15 Nm.

Install only brake hoses recommended by the manufacturer. Only straight brake pipes of the required length and with connection nipples are available for sale. The pipe should be bent using an old pipe. Do not damage the surface of the pipe, do not bend or straighten the pipes back.

After installation, check without load (the car is lifted), whether the hose follows all the movements of the wheel and does not rub.

Caution: Do not allow brake hoses to come into contact with oil or kerosene, do not coat them with paint or underbody protection.

Remove air from the brake system.

Lower the car.
