Note. Brake pads are replaced when their total thickness is reduced (block and friction lining) up to 7 mm, and the pads of both brake mechanisms of the front wheels must be replaced at the same time.
Raise the front of the car, put it on stands and remove the wheels.
Knock out the lock pins.
Remove the cruciform pad retaining spring.
Remove the inner shoe using a hook puller if necessary. When removing the outer pad, the hooks of the puller are inserted into the holes for the fixing fingers.
Warning. In the case of further use of removable pads, mark them before removing them in order to put them back in their original places.
Fully sink the pistons into the caliper (best with a special tool) and remove the outer block.
Note. If necessary, remove a small amount of brake fluid from the reservoir of the hydraulic drive, since when the piston is pressed into the caliper, it may spill out. Do not reuse the selected liquid.
The pads are installed in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- every time you replace the pads, be sure to install new fixing pins and cross-shaped retaining springs from the repair kit;
- after replacing the pads, press the brake pedal several times so that the pads fit well to the disc;
- bleed the air from the hydraulic brakes.
