Removal and installation the brake master cylinder (BMW 5 Series E12)
Removal
Remove the brake fluid from the hydraulic reservoir using a syringe.
Remove the air filter.
Disconnect the hoses from the master cylinder and secure them in the raised position.
Make sure the sealing gaskets are present.
Disconnect the pipes from the master cylinder:
- first circuit: right front, left front brake, then rear brakes;
- second circuit: right front and left front brakes.
Remove the master cylinder from the vacuum booster.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Check the condition of the sealing gasket between the master cylinder and the vacuum booster.
Check the clearance between the master cylinder piston and the vacuum booster pushrod, which should be 0.5 mm.
