Removal and installation the parking brake lever (BMW X5 E53)

Removing the lever (1, see Fig. 11.32) the parking brake must be applied in the following order.

Remove the parking brake lever bellows and the ventilation grille between the front seats, in the rear of the passenger compartment. Using the "34.1.030" tool, loosen the parking brake cable locknuts and remove the cover (1, Fig.11.37). Disconnect the cable from the power indicator switch (involvement) parking brake by pressing its locking plate.

Fold the mat aside. Unscrew the screws (2 and 3) and remove the parking brake lever.

The parking brake lever should be installed in the reverse order, while the parking brake lever mounting screws must be tightened to a torque of 21 N·m (2.1 kgf·m) and the parking brake drive must be adjusted.
