The hand-operated parking brake with drum brake mechanism has its own design features, since the rear axle brake discs also act as drums for the parking brake. The parking brake mechanism is completely independent of the working brake mechanisms.
Parking (hand) brake lever (fig. 11.32) via cable traction (fig. 11.33) activates the rear wheel brakes. A steel cable in a flexible, twisted braid is used as a rod. Wear of the parking brake during operation is insignificant.
