Adjust clearance between pads and brake drums (see above).
Remove the protective rubber boot from the parking brake lever.
Loosen the threaded rod locknut.
Raise the drive lever by five sector teeth, starting from the full brake position.
Tighten the adjusting nut until the wheels brake.
Tighten locknut.
After that, make sure that the wheels rotate freely with the parking brake released.
To make sure that the tension of the drive cables is the same, it is enough to raise the parking brake lever slightly and turn the wheels manually.
Replacing the parking brake pads for vehicles with rear wheel disc brakes («525» And «528»)
Remove the rear wheel brake disc.
Disconnect the lower shoe return spring.
Rotate and remove retaining springs.
Disconnect the lower ends of the brake pads and remove the pads in an upward direction.
Replacing the spreader mechanism
Remove the parking brake pads.
Pull out the lever «A» (see photo), shifting it to the right, push out the bolt «IN» and pull the holder «WITH» to the left.
Note. From model year 1978, the gear ratio of the parking brake lever has been changed as a result of the change in size «A» (see picture).
