Removal and installation of wheel brake cylinders (BMW 3 Series E36)

Removal

Remove the brake pads.



Loosen the union nut "1" of the brake pipe without unscrewing it.

Loosen bolts "2" securing the wheel brake cylinder.

Installation

Place a rag under the brake shield.

Loosen the nut "1" of the brake pipe and immediately manually onto the new wheel brake cylinder. This ensures a small outflow of brake fluid.

If the brake cylinder sealing ring in the brake shield is defective, it should first be replaced.

Tighten the bolts "2" of the wheel brake cylinder and tighten them to a torque of 10 Nm.

Tighten the brake pipe union nut with a wrench to a torque of 5 Nm.

Install the brake pads.

Remove air from the brake system.
