Withdrawal
Unscrew the handbrake cables from the handbrake lever.
Raise the car.
Remove the heat shield from the exhaust system.
Pull out the handbrake cables from the guides under the bottom of the car.
Rear disc brakes
Remove parking brake pads.
Remove the spacer lock of the handbrake pads by depressing pin -1- for this.
Unscrew the handbrake cable sheath support, for which unscrew the bolts -2-.
Disconnect the handbrake cable from the trailing arm of the rear axle and pull the cable out of the protective tube.
Installation
Route the cable to the handbrake lever and to the rear wheel brake.
Attention: When installing in a protective cover, take into account that the support for the cable sheath is adjacent to the tube.
Connect the handbrake cable to the rear axle trailing arm with a plastic clip.
Insert cable support and fasten it with 2 bolts -2- to the brake shield.
Assemble the drum brake.
Rear wheel drum brakes
Remove brake drum.
Disconnect the top return spring (Drawing W 44149 item -8-).
Slightly raise the pressure brake shoe from the support and disconnect the cable from the brake lever.
Compress retaining clip -1- with pliers and pull handbrake cable out of brake shield -2-.
Installation
Route the handbrake cable to the handbrake lever and to the brake shield.
Insert the handbrake cable with retaining clip into the brake shield. Make sure the locking bracket is in the correct position.
Attach the handbrake cable to the trailing arm.
Assemble the drum brake.
Pull the handbrake cable through the guides in the cabin. When inserting the cables, the handbrake lever must be in the released position.
Screw the handbrake cable nuts onto the handbrake lever by hand.
Install the heat shield for the exhaust system.
Screw the cables to the lever.
Adjust handbrake.
