Removal and installation the handbrake cable (BMW 5 Series E34)
Removal
Remove the handbrake lever.
Remove the parking brake pads
Remove the handbrake shoe spacer lock by pressing down finger 1.
Unscrew the support of the handbrake cable braid by unscrewing bolts 2.
Disconnect the handbrake cable from the rear axle trailing arm and pull the cable out of the protective tube.
Installation
Route the cable to the handbrake lever and to the rear wheel brake.
Attention: When installing in the protective case, take into account that the support for the cable braiding is adjacent to the tube.
Connect the handbrake cable to the rear axle swing arm with a plastic clamp.

Insert the cable support and secure it with 2 bolts 2 on the brake shield.
Assemble the drum brake.
Install the handbrake lever.
Adjust the handbrake.
