Removal and installation the handbrake cable. Drum brakes (BMW 3 Series E30)

Removal

Lift the rubber boot of the handbrake lever and pull it back.



Loosen the handbrake cable nuts.

Remove the rear drum brake shoes.



Remove the handbrake cable from the trailing arm.



Use pliers to squeeze the locking clip "1" and pull the handbrake cable back out of the brake shield "2".

Installation

Route the handbrake cable to the handbrake lever and to the brake shield.

Insert the brake cable into the locking bracket on the brake shield. Ensure the locking bracket is in the correct position.

Secure the handbrake cable to the trailing arm.

Assemble the drum brake.

Tighten the handbrake cable nuts.

Adjust the handbrake.

Place the rubber boot on the handbrake lever.
