Removal and installation, adjustment of the brake light switch (BMW 3 Series E30)
The brake light switch is located under the steering wheel on the handbrake pedal lever.
Remove the lower trim (see section "Removal and installation the center console and shelf under the dashboard").
Disconnect both wires from the brake light switch.
Turn on the ignition.
Short-circuit both wires of the brake light switch. If the brake light does not light, adjust or replace the brake light switch.
Using nuts "1" and "2", adjust the brake light switch so that when the brake pedal is released, the switch contact button protrudes by 6-8 mm. If necessary, adjust the switch by turning both nuts.
Tighten nut "2".
Disconnect both connectors "1" from the switch.
Unscrew nut "2" from the switch and remove the switch.
Insert the switch and secure with nut "2".
Adjust the switch.
Connect the wire connectors.
Check that the brake lights come on when the ignition is turned on.
Install the bottom trim.

Examination
