Removal and installation the flashing light/wiper switch (BMW 5 Series E39)

Note: The flasher switch and windshield wiper switch are removed in the same way. The flasher switch is described below as an example.

Removal

Move the steering column all the way down and extend it fully.



Remove 3 screws securing the lower steering column trim.



In the indicated areas, press the upper steering column trim inward on both sides and remove the lower trim with a downward movement.



Unscrew the "arrow" screw and remove the upper trim.





Squeeze the clamps at the top and bottom and pull out the switch.



Squeeze the clamps and disconnect the plug.

Installation

Insert and secure the plug.

Install and secure the switch.

Use three screws to securely attach the lower steering column trim.

If necessary, replace the expansion nut securing the upper trim.



Attach and secure the upper part. To do this, insert hooks "1" into receivers "2".



Press the top part of the steering wheel down and fix it on the sides at the bottom.

Screw the top part of the cladding.

Set the steering column to its normal position.
