Removal and installation the rear light (BMW 5 Series E39)

Limousine



Removal



Remove the lamp holders, see chapter "Replacing incandescent lamps".

Remove the lamp holders, see chapter «Replacing incandescent lamps».


Unscrew 4 nuts and press the headlight diffuser outward.

Weld the sealing gasket to ensure there is no damage; replace the gasket if necessary.

Installation



Place the diffuser and tighten the mounting nuts.

Install lamp holders.

Touring: tailgate light



Removal



Remove the rear door trim.

Remove the rear door trim.


Turn the quick-release clamp approximately 90° and remove the lamp holders.

Turn the quick-release clamp approximately 90° and remove the lamp holders.


Unscrew the "arrow" nuts and push the light out.



Installation



Place the rear light and lightly tighten the mounting nuts. Align the light so that there is a gap of approximately 2 mm between it and the rear door. Then tighten the light mount.

Subsequent installation is carried out in reverse order.

Touring: side wall light

Removal


Open cover "1" and unfasten it.

For the top-mounted Hifi system: loosen screw "2" and fold back the box.

Turn the quick-release clamp by approximately 90° and pull out the lamp holders "3".

Unscrew the "arrow" nuts and push the rear light out.

Installation



Place the rear light and lightly tighten the mounting nuts. Align the light so that there is a gap of approximately 2 mm between the lower edge of the light and the side wall. Then tighten the light mount.



Subsequent installation is carried out in reverse order.
