Removal and installation the rear door trim (Touring) (BMW 5 Series E39)

Removal



Open the back door.

Use a small screwdriver to push the upper rear door light out of the recess, disconnect the plug connector and remove the light.

Release the left and right tool box swivel clamps and open the tool box.

Remove the spare rear door bolt cover and slide it through the trim.

Loosen the clamps securing the tool box on the left and right, unscrew the box from the receivers and remove it.

Unfasten the wiper shaft cover with an upward movement.

Unfasten the wiper shaft cover with an upward movement.


Loosen 2 bolts -1-.

Remove the rear door lock trim.

Remove the rear door lock trim.


Partially detach the trim from the window glass on the left and right "1" and unscrew 9 screws "2".

Carefully unfasten the trim with a downward movement and remove it.

Installation



Check the tightness of the rear door clamps; replace defective clamps if necessary.



When replacing the rear door: remove the clips and sound-insulating material from the old trim and install it on the new trim.

Place the cladding and secure it.

Please note: Before installing the rear door trim, the trim must be secured so that the rear door trim is centered before being secured.


Secure the rear door lock trim.

Secure the wiper shaft cover. First, place the clamps on the cover.

Subsequent installation is carried out in reverse order.
