Removal and installation the rear door (Touring) (BMW 5 Series E39)
Removal
Remove the antenna amplifier.
Remove the gas-filled shock absorber from the body on the left and right.
Disconnect the gas-filled shock absorber from the rear window frame on the left and right.
Pull out the rubber insert for the left wiring harness. Disconnect the 3 plug connectors of the heating system and the switch for the rear window. The fastening of the antenna amplifier wire has already been released. Pull out the antenna amplifier wire.
Pull out the rubber insert on the right side. Disconnect the rear window washer hose and pull out the antenna amplifier wire further.
To facilitate subsequent assembly, mark the position of the hinges relative to the door and the body. To do this, outline the hinges along the perimeter with a felt-tip pen.
Protect the door opening on the car from possible damage by covering it with tape around the perimeter.
Caution: After loosening the mounting bolts, the rear door with the window frame may slide down and rest against the edge of the body.
Safety instructions: There is a risk of pinching fingers and damage to body parts!
Ask two assistants to hold the door firmly.

On the left and right, unscrew 4 bolts "arrows" securing the rear door hinge and the window glass frame.
Lower the rear door until the hinges tilt.
Fold the hinges of the rear door and window frame so that the door together with the window frame can be removed by moving it backwards.
Remove the rear door together with the window glass frame.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing a new rear door, first hang all adjacent parts and adjust the back door.
