Door glass, window lifters and rear vent window (coupe model) — removal and installation (BMW 3 Series E46)
Glass and window lifter of the front door
1. Removal of the front door glass must be carried out at a specialized service station. If there is a malfunction in the operation of the window lift or glass, the glass will need to be adjusted during installation. Violation of the glass position adjustment may result in damage to the glass when closing the door.

3. Disconnect the window rod from the support (Fig. 15.3).

4. Remove the trim from the middle pillar of the body (see paragraph 27).
5. Remove the plastic caps and unscrew the two bolts securing the hinge to the rack (Fig. 15.5).

Installation
7. Before tightening the hinge mounting bolts, adjust the window as follows:
- a) The distance between the rear edge of the front door glass and the seal of the end of the ventilation window must not exceed 6 mm.
- b) The distance between the upper edge of the ventilation window and the roof rain gutter should be 1 mm.
- c) The distance between the rear edge of the ventilation window and the rain gutter should not exceed 1.8 mm.
8. The rest of the installation procedure is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Note that the plastic cap of the rod has an internal protrusion that must fit into the groove of the window rod socket.
