Drain the oil from the rear axle housing.
Disconnect the rear propeller shaft from the final drive pinion flange.
Disconnect the wheel drive shafts from the differential output shaft flanges and hang the shafts.
Remove the rear axle mounting bolts.
Disconnect the rear axle from the bracket and remove the axle.
The rear axle is installed in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- avoid stress when installing the rear axle;
- replace the nuts of the rear axle mounting bolts;
- after installing the rear axle, fill the crankcase with oil.
