Removal and installation the rear light (BMW 3 Series E46)

Removal

1. Removal of the lamp holder of the corresponding rear light is given in Section Replacement of incandescent lamps for outdoor lighting.



2. The illustration shows a tail light in the trunk lid, secured with a clamp. Unscrew the mounting nut from inside the car and remove the tail light from the outside. For external tail lights, you need to unscrew several mounting nuts along the contour of the light.

Installation

3. If there is any damage, replace the rear light gasket.

4. Insert the light and align it with the adjacent body elements. Lightly tighten the nuts to 5 Nm.

5. Install the tail light bulb holder, refer to Section Replacement of incandescent lamps for outdoor lighting.

6. Close the trunk lid or tailgate and check the tightness of the rear light by pouring water on the light and then checking whether it has penetrated into the car interior.

7. If water has penetrated, replace the seal or light.
