Removal and installation the headlight range adjustment motor (BMW 3 Series E46)

Removal



1. Remove the headlight, refer to Section Removal and installation headlights.

2. Remove the ring cover.

2. Remove the ring cover.


3. Remove the headlight assembly seals.

3. Remove the headlight assembly seals.


4. Press the headlight unit away from the three ball heads (two heads for manual adjustment "1" and one for beam adjustment "2") and remove it. The seals are pressed together.

5. Disconnect connector "4".

6. Unscrew the bolts securing the headlight range adjustment motor "3" and remove it.

Installation



7. Insert the headlight range adjustment motor and secure it.

8. Connect the connector.

9. Install the headlight unit through the seals, resting it on three ball heads.

10. Place the seals on the headlight assembly.

11. Insert the headlight unit into the ring cover and secure it.



12. Fix the sealing frame "1".

13. Install the headlight and adjust it, refer to Section Headlight adjustment.

14. Install the turn signal, refer to Section Replacement of incandescent lamps for outdoor lighting.
