Removal and installation the instrument panel (BMW 5 Series E39)

Removal

Move the steering column all the way down and extend it fully.

Unfasten the Slava and the wooden pads to the right of the steering column.



Remove 3 screws from below.



Remove the 3 screws at the top and remove the frame. Disconnect the plug from the fog light switch and unfasten the bezel. If necessary, disconnect the plug from the low beam switch. In this case, the switch lights up and a warning buzzer sounds. To avoid this, you need to pull out the corresponding fuse.

Note: Depending on the design, the frame can be secured with two screws at the top and bottom, and also additionally fixed at the top.

Remove 2 screws and fold back the instrument panel assembly.





Unfasten and disconnect the multi-pin plugs "1" by releasing the retaining clip and removing it from the wires.

Installation

Connect the multi-pin plugs and secure them with the retaining clips. Make sure that the retaining clips secure the plugs.

Press the instrument panel assembly into the hole and screw it on.

Connect the plug to the matchmaker's switch.

Attach and screw the frame.

Put the wooden pads back in place.

Move the steering column to its normal position.
