Replacing incandescent lamps (BMW 5 Series E39)

Turn off the corresponding electric lamp.

Main headlight



Warning: Halogen lamps for high and low beam headlights, as well as for fog lights, are under pressure, so when replacing lamps, work in protective glasses and gloves. If the lamp breaks, injury may occur.


Open the engine compartment hood.

Open the engine compartment hood.


Turn the low beam lamp holder "1" all the way to the left and pull it out.

Remove and replace the lamp.

Place the holder of the near matchmaker lamp and turn it all the way to the right.

Turn the high beam lamp holder "2" all the way to the left and pull it out.

Disconnect the plug.

Connect the new holder with the lamp to the plug and secure it.

Place the high beam lamp holder and turn it all the way to the right.

Parking lights

Turn the parking light bulb holder "3" all the way to the left and pull it out.



Remove the lamp and replace it.

Turn the lamp holder with the large protrusion upward, insert it into the housing and turn it to the right.

Front turn signal light

Squeeze the lamp holder at the protrusions and pull it out with a backward movement.

The lamp is easy to press into the holder, turn to the left and remove.

The new lamp is easily pressed into the holder, turned to the right and locked into place.

Insert the lamp holder and secure it.

Side direction indicator light



Press the flashlight forward with your fingers at the rear edge and pull it out.

The lamp is easy to press, turn to the left and pull out.

The new lamp is easy to press in, turn to the right and lock into place.

Fog light

Remove the spacer clips for the decorative grille in the front bumper. To do this, first press out the spacer pins "2", then remove the clips "1".



Press the decorative grille upwards and remove it.

Remove the cover next to the fog light by the front edge, moving it forward.

Remove 2 screws and tilt the fog light forward.

Press spring "1" from the back in the direction of the arrow.

Lift cover "2" and unfasten it from the opposite side.

Unhook the wire clip-1- from the holder "2".



Remove the contact cap and replace the bulb.

Put on the contact cap.

Check sealing gasket "3" in the cover for damage; replace the gasket if necessary.

Hang the lid, press it down and secure it with a wire clip.

Insert the fog light and screw it in place.

Fasten the decorative grille, press the clamps and secure with spacer pins.

Rear light



Open the back door.

Fold down the side panel.

Fold down the side panel.


Turn clamp "1" 90° and remove holder "2".

Turn clamp «1» 90° and remove holder «2».


Press the lamps lightly into the holder, turn to the left and remove.

1 - direction indicator light
2 - rear side light
3 - rear fog light
4 - reversing light
5 - brake light

Insert the new lamp, press it lightly into the holder, turn it to the right and fix it.

Insert the lamp holder and secure it with the clamp by turning it to the right.



Central brake light



Open the back door.

Use a screwdriver to remove the plastic cover from the bottom of the storage compartment.

Turn the lamp holder to the left and remove it.

The lamp is easy to press into the holder and take out. Insert the new lamp, easily press into the holder, turn to the right and fix.

Insert the pump holder and secure by turning it to the right.

Attach the plastic cover to the bottom of the storage shelf.
