Removal and installation headlights (BMW 5 Series E39)

Note: Removal and installation of the headlight lens are described in the chapter "Removal and installation the electric motor of the headlight beam angle adjustment system".

Removal

Open the engine compartment hood.



Unfasten "2" from the inside of cover "1" and carefully press it down from the holders "3" with a screwdriver. Unfasten cover "4" from the outside.

Disconnect all connectors from the back of the headlight.



Mark the mounting position of the headlight by tracing the washers with a felt-tip pen. Unscrew the fastener and pull the headlight forward.

Installation

Insert the headlight and screw it on.

Connect the plug connectors.

Hang the cover under the headlight from the outside, tilt it inward and secure it.

Check the headlight beam angle adjustment.
