Removal



Remove the rear wheel brake disc.

Disconnect the lower return spring. Check the return spring. Replace the rusted and weakened spring.

Lightly press the pressure spring with a 5 mm open-end wrench, turn 90° (¼ turn) and remove the spring from the brake shoe.

Spread the brake pads from the bottom and lift them up.

Remove the expansion lock and check for ease of movement. To do this, pull part "B" back, push out pin "A" and remove part "C" from the cable.

Installation



It is imperative to replace the brake pads on both sides with pads.

Apply a very thin layer of Molykote G paste to the working surfaces and the pin of the expansion lock.

Place the expansion lock with pin "A" at the bottom on the handbrake cable in the correct position.

Insert the left and right brake shoes. Press the pressure spring with a 5 mm open-end wrench and simultaneously turn it 90°.



Ensure the movement of the brake shoe installation mechanism. Lightly lubricate the threads with Molykote paste. Unscrew the threaded element completely.

Place the installation mechanism in the correct position between the brake pads.

From below, the brake pads should fit into the slots of the expansion lock.

Connect the upper and lower return springs.

Install the brake disc.

Adjust the handbrake.

If the handbrake brake pads have been replaced, they must be run in in 3 stages.
  • Phase 1: 5 hard braking applications at 50 km/h on a road with light traffic.
  • Phase 2: Allow the brakes to cool.
  • Phase 3: 5 more hard braking at 50 km/h.
