Disc brakes
The parking brake is completely separated from the service brakes, thus subject to less wear. Friction torque is reduced due to corrosion of the brake drum and contamination of the brake pads. To achieve the maximum effectiveness of the handbrake, it is usually sufficient to drive the vehicle for about 100 m at a moderate speed before adjusting it with the handbrake applied.
Remove one wheel bolt on each wheel.
The threaded hole for the bolt should be 30°up behind the vertical.
Place a screwdriver -2- on the adjusting nut -1- and turn the nut until it is no longer possible to turn the brake disc by hand. After that, unscrew the adjusting nut 3-4 teeth back. When turning the adjusting nut on the left side of the car up, the brake pads are pressed against the drum. On the right side of the vehicle, the adjusting nut must be turned down to do this. After adjustment, check that the brake disc can turn freely and, if necessary, turn the adjusting nut back a little. Brake discs must rotate freely.
Adjust handbrake cable.
Tighten the handbrake lever by 5 clicks and unscrew the adjusting nuts -2- until the left and right rear wheels turn by hand. Release the handbrake lever and check that the wheels turn freely, otherwise repeat the adjustment.
Turn on the ignition. When the handbrake lever is released, the handbrake indicator lamp on the instrument panel should go out. If not, adjust switch -3-.
Install the rubber boot on the handbrake lever.
Screw in the 2 bolts of the rear wheels and tighten them to a torque of 110 Nm.
