Removal and installation of control lamps and illumination lamps in the instrument panel (BMW 3 Series E36)

Removal

Remove the instrument panel.



Rotate the defective lamp approximately 45° and remove it.

Replace the indicator lamps as a set.

Turn the defective "arrow" light bulb by about 45° and pull it out. Service stations use a special tool for this, but it can also be done with pliers.

Remove the bulb from the socket and replace it.

Installation

Warning: Install a lamp of the correct power. Installing a more powerful lamp may cause the socket to melt.

Insert the incandescent light bulb into the socket.

Insert the cartridge into the instrument panel and secure by turning it 45°.

Install the instrument panel.
