Removal and installation the lambda probe (BMW 3 Series E36)

Caution: When applying the protective agent to the underbody of the vehicle, cover the lambda probe.

Removal

Disconnect the lambda probe connector by turning the knurled nut to the left. The connector is located on the gearbox beam.



Release the wire fastening.

Unscrew the lambda probe, while turning the wire by hand to avoid breaking it.

Installation

Caution: Do not clean the lambda probe or allow it to come into contact with lubricants.

Lubricate only the thread of the lambda probe with "Antiseize" grease.

Screw the lambda probe into the front exhaust pipe and tighten to a torque of 5 Nm.

Secure the wire.

Secure the lambda probe connector with a riveted nut.
