Removal and installation the lambda probe (BMW 5 Series E34)

Caution: When applying the protective agent to the underbody of the vehicle, cover the lambda probe.

Removal

Disconnect the lambda probe connector.

Release the wire fastening.

If necessary, tilt the front section of the exhaust system to provide access to the lambda probe.

Press the protective cover and unscrew the lambda probe. At the same time, twist the wire by hand to avoid breaking it.

Installation

Caution: Do not clean the lambda probe or allow it to come into contact with lubricants.

Coat the lambda probe threads with Antiseize grease.

Screw the lambda probe into the front exhaust pipe and tighten to 55 Nm. Connect the connector.

Insert the protective cover.

Secure the wire.

Secure the lambda probe connector with a knurled nut.
