Generator — Checking and Repairing (BMW 3 Series E46)
If the alternator is not working properly, remove it from the vehicle and take it to an auto electrician for inspection and repair. Most electricians can replace the alternator brushes for a reasonable fee. If the alternator requires more extensive repairs, inquire about the cost of the repair - a new alternator may be cheaper.
