Removal and installation the axle shaft (BMW 5 Series E34)

Removal

Loosen the wheel bolts.

Raise the rear of the car.

Remove the wheel.



Loosen the bolts securing the axle shaft to the differential gearbox using a wrench for bolts with 8 mm internal hex heads, for example HAZET 986-Lg8, "arrows" and tie the axle shaft with wire.

Caution: Do not allow the axle shaft to sag, as this will overload the outer constant velocity joint.

Remove the brake disc.

Pull out the locking clip and, if installed, remove the ABS speed sensor.

Unscrew the outer joint with the flange of the leash and remove the axle shaft.

Installation

Place the axle shaft and hang it on the wire.

Screw the axle shaft to the differential gearbox and to the drive flange with a tightening torque of 58 Nm.

Screw the wheel on and lower the car.

Tighten the wheel bolts to 110 Nm.
